1st session: The in-take

To trace the patient's developmental history.

A first 60-minute meeting is scheduled for the client with the neuropsychologist. If the client is a child under the age of 14, this first meeting takes place with only the parents and the neuropsychologist. During this session, the neuropsychologist will trace the patient's developmental history and detail the nature of their concerns and / or complaints. From that moment on, the neuropsychologist can make working hypotheses that will guide the type of assessment and the selection of tests to be administered.

2nd and 3rd sessions: Assessments

Five hours of evaluation with the client will allow for the completion of the necessary neuropsychological tests and activities.

During the first meeting with the neuropsychologist, 2 evaluation sessions of 2.5 hours each will be scheduled in the following days or weeks. This total of 5 hours of assessment with the client will allow the completion of the tests and activities required to assess the different aspects covered by the neuropsychological assessment. Depending on the pace of the assessment, the difficulties and the client's participation, a third assessment period could be added to complete all the required tests.

Depending on the situation, the concerns and the profile, and only following the client’s consent, other stakeholders or professionals who have been involved with our client’s care may be contacted in order to obtain other information relevant to the assessment process.

The handing of the final report; 4th session

Submission of the final report presentation of results, conclusions and recommendations.

A few weeks following the last evaluation session, a fourth meeting will be scheduled with the client and / or parents to present the results obtained and submit the evaluation report. The latter will detail the strengths and weaknesses of the client being assessed, state the diagnosis/diagnoses, if any, as well as any necessary recommendations related to the conclusion of the neuropsychological assessment. The neuropsychologist will also be able to answer the patient's questions during this meeting.

t is sometimes necessary and relevant to follow up after submission of the report in order to support the client, relatives or caregivers in the implementation of adaptations and therapeutic follow-ups. These sessions are fixed if the client deems it necessary, and only following their request.

Costs related to the process

We have an individualized process for each of our clients.

The costs associated with the neuropsychological assessment are not fixed and depend on the time required to complete the analysis of the file by the professional. The hours worked and billed at an hourly rate of $165 by the neuropsychologist include the various meetings, the correction of the tests, the analysis of the results, as well as the writing and revision of the final report. For the analysis of a typical case, approximately 13 to 15 hours of work should be expected, for a total of approximately $2500. As explained above, the number of sessions needed for each assessment depends on the nature of the client’s concerns and abilities, hence the estimated cost of the assessment.

These fees are payable in installments to be paid at each meeting; 3 fixed payments of $625 each (for the first 3 meetings) as well as a fourth payment, the final amount of which can be confirmed once the total hours worked are known. At the last meeting, the official receipt will be given to the client detailing the fees billed at the rate of $165 / hour. The latter may be submitted to private insurance for reimbursement for services rendered in psychology or added to the client's annual tax return. Also note; that the cost of the assessment includes the $100 fee for opening a file. An additional administrative fee of $25 is also payable for all copies and sending of official documents following the end of the process.
